About

The #bettertowns consortium was created in 2020 to work with towns, both large and small. We bring a multi-disciplinary approach to re-purposing towns from the beginning of the journey through to the execution of a successful plan.

The consortium draws upon an extensive network of subject matter experts that support it on projects nationally and internationally. Its members provide practical support to clients and help them identify and implement solutions. It is pioneering in its multi-disciplinary approach and has a track record of creating positive change in towns and cities in partnership with local authorities and communities.

The core team is composed of expert practitioners from Didobi, HLM Architects and realestateworks.

Our ambition is to create a roadmap for towns to repurpose forgotten spaces and re-engage with their communities through realistic and actionable projects

About Us

We understand towns from an occupier, investor, local authority and community perspective. Our people are recognised and respected experts and have a track record of practical delivery regenerating and repurposing towns.

We have a deep knowledge of retail data, places and trends. We are rigorous, independent and objective in our approach, design, analysis, data and systems.

We pride ourselves on the relationships we create with our clients and the wider market and have a culture of challenge and innovation in all we do. We do not just apply our skills commercially but also support and mentor students and start-up businesses.

See the ‘Team’ page for further information on our consortium members and the companies behind them.

About Our Process

We have created a roadmap for towns in the form of a highly visual journey. The first question to ask is ‘where are we on that journey?’

Our roadmap provides a logical and evidence-based route from the creation of a vision through to the delivery of targeted interventions and investment in town centres. It acts as the anchor reference for the successful repurposing of towns where rigour, process and logic are applied at every stage.

The speed you can navigate the roadmap is governed by factors such as the extent of base data available, the clarity of your vision, your governance procedures, and the generation of appetite from occupiers and investors.
